Free Range Sika Stag

Hunting Downunder is situated near the foothills of the Kaweka Forest Park – Free range Sika Deer country!

Aaron & Gav – your guides, have personally harvested over fifty 8 point trophy Sika stags and want to share their knowledge on the art of stalking these elusive little deer with you.

Arguably the best time to hunt trophy stags, the Sika rut normally peaks around April the 25th, with stags becoming vocal mid March and stay very active through to June.

Other good times to hunt stags is in the “late velvet” stage when just getting into hard antler, this is around mid – late Feb. After their rut , before they drop their antlers, stags can be caught out feeding in the open also – June & July.

The “Hunt experience” isn’t just about harvesting trophy stags, there’s nothing more satisfying than enjoying a meal of prime venison steak that you provided – and Sika venison is the best you can get!!

Hunting Downunder has great meat hunting packages over the Spring and Summer starting from $1,000 – this covers daily rates, helicopter flights, food, gear use, animal butchery and more
